Ceará Events Center

The Ceará Events Center (CEC), equipped by the Secretariat of Tourism (SETUR-CE), is one of the most modern spaces of its kind in Latin America and the second largest in Brazil in terms of usable area, with 76,000 m².



Why Fortaleza?

Coast

Fortaleza’s coast has a length of 34 kilometers, with a total of 15 main beaches. Its limits being the rivers: Ceará, to the north, and Pacoti, to the South. The beaches that most fortalezenses (people that live in fortaleza) frequent the most are: Praia do Futuro (east), Meireles, Mucripe and Praia de Iracema (north), East-West and Barra do Ceará (West)

Access

The CE-040 connects Capital to the main tourist destinations located in the Costa do Sol Nascente. For the Costa do Sol Poente, the CE-085 or Rodovia Estruturante, takes visitors to São Gonçalo do Amarante (Pecém / Porto and Taíba), Paraipaba (Lagoinha Beach) to Itapipoca (Praia da Baleia). The BR-020 connects Fortaleza to the central region of the state, which in turn gives access to the Ibiapaba and Sertão de Inhamuns.

The BR-116, the country's largest fully paved highway, with approximately 4,513 kilometers and passing through ten states, begins in Fortaleza and ends in the city of Jaguarão, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, on the border with Uruguay.

By sea, the visitor can reach Fortaleza by the Port of Fortaleza, located in the beautiful Enseada do Mucuripe. It has recently been adapted to receive sea cruises that visit the Brazilian coast.

For the tourist, the advantage is the location of the port, as it is less than 10 minutes to the best beaches of Fortaleza the main shopping centers and the hotel region of the city.

Pinto Martins International Airport

The Pinto Martins International Airport (IATA: FOR, ICAO: SBFZ), located only 8 km from the Center of Fortaleza, is the 12th busiest in the country and the 3rd in the Northeast in domestic and international passengers, according to the list of busiest airports in Brazil.

Located in the Serrinha neighborhood (Avenida Senador Carlos Jereissati, 3,000), Fortaleza Airport had its origins in the Alto da Balança lane, built in the 1930s and used until 2000 by the Aeroclube do Ceará. The new and modern passenger terminal, with 32 thousand square meters, was inaugurated in February of 1998.

The new terminal has a capacity of 2.5 million passengers / year, 14 parking spaces for small, medium and large aircraft (including Boeing 747-400), the TAG (General Aviation Terminal) has seven hangars, 29 parking positions for small aircraft, three helicopter parking spaces and service roads and a public parking lot with 900 seats.

At the airport there are tourist information services, tourist agencies, taxis (common and special), car rental companies, bus (urban, executive and for remote boarding / disembarkation), food court, free shop, first aid room, VIP room and aeroshop with 40 stores.

Bus

There are no executive buses to serve directly the airport, however, several urban lines make transportation to Fortaleza Airport, and to others parts of the city.

Tourist Houses
In the Tourist Houses, located in strategic points of the city, people can search for information about transportation, beaches, hotels and restaurants. There are internet services, videos and bilingual service from 9am to 8pm. The Tourist House of Beira Mar runs every day of the week, while the Central Market and Ferreira Square and Praia do Futuro, from Monday to Saturday.

Fortaleza's Central Market

Central Market
The Central Market, between Praia de Iracema and the Center of the city, is a four-storey building dedicated to the sale of handcraft products from Ceará. There are more than 500 stores with leather goods (sandals, shoes, hats, handbags and bags), lace and embroidery on clothing and bedding, table and bath, T-shirts, souvenirs, gold jewelry, decorative items, among many other items.

Affordable Beach
The Affordable Beach program offers recreation space with access mat and amphibious chairs, which allows people with physical and / or motor disabilities or difficulty of locomotion to have a sea bath. The place has structure for adapted volleyball and frescobol, swimming pools, chairs and tables, accessible bathroom and security items. The project runs from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am to 2pm, and in the January, July and December period, from Monday to Monday, from 9am to 2pm.
